BLUE MOUNTAIN HIGH SCHOOL: Important News On Meals at BMSD!

Mealschool

Blue Mountain High School issued the following announcement on Sept. 16.

The Blue Mountain School District is pleased to announce the availability of free meals for all students through federal COVID funding. All enrolled students in kindergarten through 12th grade are qualified to receive a free standard lunch which includes the main or alternate entre, fruit, vegetable, and milk. Students should follow regular meal selection and go through the lunch lines as normal, but no student will be charged for the standard school lunch. Extra items and al-a-carte items will still be for sale and charged to student accounts.

All families can also go online to register for free breakfast meals. These prepackaged breakfast meals will be available for distribution at each of the schools starting the week of September 14th, but registration is required through the BMSD website on the “Parent and Student” page or by calling (570) 366-6589. Starting on September 14, 2020 there will be NO morning breakfast served in any of the school buildings since breakfast will be offered through the free breakfast distribution.

Free meals for all will be available until December 23, 2020 or until funding expires. Families are encouraged to register for free or reduced meals if they meet qualification guidelines to continue free or inexpensive meals once funding expires.

Students were not charged during the first week of school for any standard meals that were served in the cafeteria. All student meal account balances will be available for purchasing al-a-carte items or for meal purchase once the grant funds expire.
