State Representative Doyle Heffley, a Republican from Carbon, announced his reappointment as the Republican chairman of the House Human Services Committee for the 2024-25 legislative session. This marks the second consecutive session Heffley has held this role.
“It is a great privilege to be re-appointed as the Republican Chairman of the Human Services Committee,” Heffley stated. He expressed his commitment to ensuring taxpayer dollars are used responsibly, continuing efforts to eliminate waste and fraud within programs, and collaborating across party lines for effective regulation.
Heffley highlighted the committee's responsibilities, which include oversight of the Department of Human Services and the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs. The committee's legislative focus encompasses mental health issues, drug and alcohol crises, and the opioid overdose epidemic.
Heffley added, “I remain committed to making certain taxpayer dollars are used responsibly... I am excited to build on our past successes and collaborate across party lines to create fair and effective regulations for the Commonwealth.”
The committee will conduct hearings addressing the delivery of human services, focusing on challenges faced by individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities and those requiring mental health and substance abuse treatment.
