Fire and EMS companies in Schuylkill County have received state grants totaling over $1.6 million. The funds aim to support their mission of ensuring public safety, as announced by Representatives Joanne Stehr, Jamie Barton, Tim Twardzik, and Senator David Argall. A total of 101 agencies in the county will benefit from this funding.
Representative Stehr emphasized the importance of the grants: “This grant funding will provide vital support to the heroic first responders in our community.” She acknowledged the dedication of firefighters and EMS personnel who work to keep communities safe.
Representative Barton highlighted the necessity of supporting first responders: “I’ve met with many EMTs, paramedics and firefighters, and I know they stand ready to help the rest of us at a moment’s notice.” He noted that these professionals need assistance to continue their service.
Twardzik expressed his enthusiasm for the funding: “As an advocate for the safety and well-being of our communities, I am thrilled to hear about the substantial grant funding awarded to benefit our fire and EMS departments.” He encouraged community members to volunteer with local emergency teams.
Senator Argall shared his gratitude for the allocation: “I’m thankful so many local fire and EMS companies were awarded these highly competitive funds.” He acknowledged that these grants are crucial for aiding first responders in their challenging roles.
The Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program facilitated this funding through legislation by the General Assembly. The funds can be utilized for facility upgrades, new equipment purchases, debt reduction, training programs, recruitment efforts, and more.
