Rep. JoAnne Stehr, representing Northumberland and Schuylkill counties, has been appointed as the Republican Subcommittee Chair on Programs and Benefits under the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee. This appointment was made by Republican Leader Bryan Cutler from Lancaster. Stehr will serve in this role for the remainder of the 2023-24 Legislative Session of the General Assembly.

"I am honored to accept this position and am committed to working alongside my colleagues to create meaningful solutions that enhance the quality of life for our senior citizens,” said Stehr.

The state of Pennsylvania provides various programs and services aimed at supporting its senior citizen population. These initiatives are funded through the Pennsylvania Lottery and include support for senior centers, low-cost prescription drugs, free and reduced transit options, property tax/rent rebates, and long-term living services.

In addition to her new role on the Aging Committee, Stehr is also a member of the House Health and Liquor Control committees.
