FOIA Request to Carbon County Election Department Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Coal Region News have sent a request under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., to the Carbon County Election Department. The request is for records of all candidates running in the upcoming election.

The information requested includes the candidates' first, middle, and last names, the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office, and party affiliation. We have also asked for all contact information for each candidate including their address, phone number, and email address.

We believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information as a media organization, we consider ourselves eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

Our mission at Coal Region News is to ensure that our audience stays informed about local governmental affairs. This information will enable voters to make informed decisions during the upcoming elections.

We await a positive response from the Carbon County Election Department as we continue our efforts in promoting transparency and accountability in local governance.
