The Borough of Jim Thorpe has been awarded a low-interest loan exceeding $4.2 million from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST). This funding is designated for the replacement of outdated water mains, as announced by Representative Doyle Heffley and Senator Dave Argall.
The allocated funds will facilitate the construction of a new 5,800-foot-long water main under Center Avenue. This project aims to replace two existing mains that have been in place for over a century.
Representative Heffley expressed satisfaction with the financing option, stating, “I’m pleased to see this affordable financing option support essential improvements for residents in the 122nd District.” He emphasized the importance of enhancing quality of life while reducing financial strain on the community.
Senator Argall also acknowledged the significance of securing this funding, saying, “I’m grateful Jim Thorpe was able to secure this highly competitive funding to ensure their residents have access to clean water.”
PENNVEST is known for funding sewer, stormwater, and drinking water projects across Pennsylvania.
