Rep. Tim Twardzik and Sen. David Argall have announced that Schuylkill Technology Centers (STC) will receive $81,098 in grant funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This funding is part of a larger statewide initiative distributing over $4.5 million to 58 career and technical centers and school districts across Pennsylvania.
The grant aims to help STC update or purchase equipment necessary for training students in approved career and technical education programs. The new equipment will provide students with hands-on experience, aligning their skills with the needs of local employers.
"This investment in career and technical education is an investment in the future of our students and workforce," said Twardzik. "By equipping Schuylkill Technology Centers with the tools needed for real-world learning, we’re ensuring students have the skills and opportunities to succeed while strengthening the local economy."
Argall expressed his satisfaction with the support received by STC, stating, "I’m pleased the important mission of the Schuylkill Technology Center was supported by this highly competitive funding." He emphasized the need for more skilled employees in trades across Pennsylvania and noted his role as chair of the Senate Education Committee in supporting increased funding for such centers.
The grant will be used to acquire specific equipment for various programs at STC:
- The electro-mechanical technology program will receive $4,124 for a Learn Lab Motor Control Trainer.
- The welding program will receive $16,257 for bandsaws.
- The automotive program will receive $25,445 for a Consulab Advanced Electronics Trainer and Cabinet, along with $35,272 for a Tritan Certification Kit.
These investments are part of Pennsylvania's ongoing commitment to developing a skilled workforce ready to meet future industry demands.
