Rep. Joanne Stehr has announced that the Oasis Community Recovery Club in Shamokin will receive a grant to enhance its services for individuals with substance use disorders (SUD). "This funding is a critical step forward in ensuring individuals battling substance use disorders, homelessness or hunger in our community have access to essential services," said Stehr. She emphasized the importance of supporting initiatives that save lives and strengthen the community.

The grant, which will be disbursed over 29 months from February 1, 2025, to June 30, 2027, is part of a $20 million investment by the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP) aimed at supporting twelve organizations across Pennsylvania.

Oasis Community Recovery Club provides judgment-free spaces where people can access resources and recovery services. The club offers harm reduction services, daily essentials like food and clothing, free health care including Hepatitis C/HIV testing, and referrals to treatment programs. It also supports groups and case management.

With this additional funding, Oasis Community Recovery Club plans to expand its reach in Northumberland County and continue addressing issues related to opioid and stimulant misuse.
