State grants amounting to nearly $1.8 million have been allocated to central Schuylkill County communities for infrastructure projects. Representative Tim Twardzik and Senator David Argall collaborated with local leaders to secure this competitive funding.

"I am thrilled that the 123rd District has been awarded this grant funding, which will enhance infrastructure, improve emergency services, and expand recreational opportunities," said Twardzik. "These initiatives will provide lasting benefits to our communities, ensuring residents have the resources they need and access to outdoor spaces for all to enjoy."

"Towns and neighborhoods in all corners of Schuylkill County will benefit from this funding," stated Argall.

The funding is distributed as follows:

- Minersville Borough receives $640,000 for renovating the first floor of their municipal building.

- Palo Alto Borough is granted $600,000 for expanding their municipal building and creating new emergency shelter space.

- The Schuylkill River Greenway Association gets $147,500 for planning a section of the Schuylkill River Trail in Frackville.

- Saint Clair Borough secures $400,000 on behalf of Alert Fire Company No. 1 for constructing an addition to the firehouse.

The funds are provided through the Statewide Local Share Account program, which allocates gaming revenue to support community and economic development.
