Funding awarded for community improvement projects in Carbon County

State Rep. Doyle Heffley | Pennsylvania 122nd Legislative District

State Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) announced today that more than $800,000 in funding has been allocated for community improvement projects in Carbon County.

“I’m grateful to see this funding coming back to Carbon County,” said Heffley. “Throughout the district, there are several projects that will improve the ability to better serve the residents in our communities, and I look forward to seeing the successful results.”

The grants have been distributed as follows:

- Beaver Meadows Borough: $150,000 to complete construction of the Memorial Park pavilion.

- Carbon County: $73,581 for improvements to the American Legion Post #314 building in Lehighton.

- Carbon County: $68,423 to purchase propane training equipment for first responders.

- Jim Thorpe Borough: $67,207 to purchase speed alert and safety message signs.

- Lansford Borough: $252,466 to renovate a former church into a multi-use public facility.

- Lansford Borough: $33,362 for new protective fire gear and a radio for the Lansford Fire Company.

- Packer Township: $100,000 to replace storm sewer piping and culverts along Grist Mill Drive.

- Summit Hill Borough: $56,800 to develop plans for a new visitor’s center operated by the Summit Hill Historical Society.

The grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency responsible for overseeing funding programs and investments aimed at Pennsylvania’s economic growth through the Local Share Account (LSA).
