More than $400,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding will be invested in a water system improvement project in Tremont and Porter Townships, according to an announcement made by Rep. Joanne Stehr (R-Northumberland/Schuylkill). The funding will be used to repair and maintain critical water systems in the community.
"I am pleased our communities are receiving this valuable funding that will help repair and maintain critical water systems in our community," said Stehr. "Investments like these are essential to strengthening our community and improving the quality of life for residents."
The grant, totaling $438,732, will specifically go towards the replacement of a 43-year-old water storage tank that serves customers in portions of Tremont and Porter Townships. The current tank has multiple leaks, a faulty leveling system, and does not have an approved PA Department of Environmental Protection level reader. The grant will cover the construction of a new 160,000-gallon water tank, a new foundation, and security fencing.
Stehr emphasized the importance of safe and healthy communities, stating that they lead to a better quality of life for residents and can attract new businesses to grow the local economy. She believes that these investments in water system improvements will contribute to the overall well-being of the community.
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program aims to strengthen Pennsylvania communities by assisting with housing improvements, building suitable living environments, expanding economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals, and improving critical community health and welfare infrastructure.
The funding announcement is welcomed news for Tremont and Porter Townships, as it demonstrates a commitment to maintaining and enhancing the local water system. This investment will contribute to the overall improvement of the quality of life for residents and serve as a catalyst for potential economic growth in the area.
This project aligns with Rep. Joanne Stehr's dedication to serving her constituents and ensuring their well-being. With this funding, she continues to make strides in strengthening the community and improving the lives of its residents.
