Lansford Borough, and the Carbon Chamber and Economic Development invite the media and public to the newly purchased Lansford Train Station on Tuesday, September 27th at 1 p.m. to celebrate the exchanging of keys, symbolizing a new beginning for the historic building. The station is located at 1 Dock St.
We invite you to join us as former owner and business operator Ken Hill hands Borough Council President, Bruce Markovich the keys to the historic station. Guests will also hear from local historian Dale Freudenberger, as he speaks on the importance of preserving this unique piece of historic architecture.
The future vision of the station is to create a multi-use community and visitor center that houses eateries, shopping, venue space, interactive entertainment, landscaped outdoor space for social gatherings, and resting area for hikers and bikers while respecting and preserving the deep history
that lives on at the train station turned machine shop.
The borough formed a station steering committee that includes representation from the Borough, Carbon Chamber and Economic Development and Economic Development. Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau, Lansford Alive, and The Lansford Historical Society. To assist in achieving this vision the drafting class at Carbon Career Technical Institute will be assisting in the renderings, and vision boards used to assist the committee in sourcing funding for the project. The students are under the supervision of Principal Brent Borzak, and Instructor Jeremy Pease.
