In an exciting development for Carbon and Schuylkill counties, Rep. Doyle Heffley has announced the allocation of over $4 million in state grant funding. These funds have been granted through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) and will support various projects in the region.

The grants were approved during the recent CFA Board meeting and are part of the Commonwealth's Small Water and Sewer Program (SWS), Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer, and Storm Water Projects Program (H2O), and the PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program (PACR).

"I'm happy to see these grant dollars come back to Carbon County. Focusing on key infrastructure improvements is the first step in community revitalization," stated Rep. Heffley. "The projects include critical updates to our sewer and water infrastructures. Collaborating with our state and local officials is rewarding, knowing we share the common goal of preserving our communities as well as reducing the financial burden to local residents."

The projects that will benefit from this funding include:

- Bowmanstown Borough: $319,812 in SWS funding for the construction and installation of a Chlorine Contact Tank at the borough's wastewater treatment plant.

- Lansford Coaldale Joint Water Authority: $331,655 in SWS funding for improvements to the water system on West Abbott Street, and $300,000 to replace 1,600 water meters in Lansford and Nesquehoning.

- Palmerton Municipal Authority: $151,055 in SWS funding to replace a water main pipe on Franklin Avenue.

- Coaldale Lansford Summit Hill Sewer Authority: $2.5 million in H2O funding to make improvements to a wastewater treatment plant that overflows in heavy rainstorms.

- Hazleton City Authority: $1 million in H2O funding to replace a water main near Buck Mountain Village, which serves parts of Carbon, Schuylkill, and Luzerne counties.

- Lehighton Borough: $611,245 in H2O funding for the rehabilitation of aging sewer infrastructure.

These projects will not only contribute to the improvement of vital infrastructure but also help in preserving the environment and reducing the financial burden on local residents. Rep. Heffley's dedication to securing these grants reflects his commitment to the communities he represents.

This significant investment in the region's infrastructure is a testament to the collaborative efforts of state and local officials. By working together, they have successfully secured funds that will have a positive and lasting impact on the communities of Carbon and Schuylkill counties.
