The high school is proud to announce February student recognition recipients

The high school is proud to announce February student recognition recipients.  They are Pete Barbuti, Alina Glucksnis, Evan Jenkins, and Lauren Posluszny. 

Pete Barbuti is the son of Jessica Rozina and Pete Barbuti. Pete is taking full advantage of the challenging academic courses in his senior year in order to prepare for college by excelling in AP Chemistry, AP Physics 2, AP Calculus AB, AP Computer Science Principles, AP English Literature and Composition, and Intro to Psychology/Sociology. He has achieved high honors every quarter throughout his high school career. By the end of his senior year, Pete will have taken 10 AP courses. He has earned student of the month from the North Pocono Rotary Club.  Pete is a member of the Science Olympiad, golf, and tennis teams at North Pocono. He is also involved in the Mathletes, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and Mini-THON clubs. Pete has served on the Science Olympiad executive board as secretary and vice-chairman for the past two years. He has competed at physics and engineering competitions at local high schools and universities. Pete also enjoys giving back to his community. He participates in the church youth group and volunteers for breakfasts at St. Eulalia’s Church. He is currently employed by the Elmhurst Country Club. After graduation, Pete will be attending college to major in biochemistry and has an opportunity to secure a position in the University of Pittsburgh’s dental program. Pete one day hopes to continue to provide for his community by becoming an orthodontist or oral surgeon.

Alina Glucksnis is the daughter of Kristen and Daniel Glucksnis. Upon graduation, Alina will have completed 11 AP classes and is currently taking challenging courses such as AP Macroeconomics, AP Environmental Science, AP Calculus AB, AP Psychology, and AP English Literature and Composition. Despite her demanding workload, she has received high honors throughout her highschool career. Alina is the secretary for the Model United Nations club and is a member of the National Honors Society, Mini-Thon, Environmental club, and Interact club. She has competed in four Model United Nations conferences and won for best position paper at the MBMUN conference. She has also been a part of the volleyball team for four years. Alina is an active member in her community by volunteering at the North Pocono Library and St. Eulalia’s Church. She is currently employed at Panera Bread. After high school, Alina will attend a four year university to major in economics and hopes to one day work for a large company such as Netflix or Google.

 Evan Jenkins is the son of Brian and Amy Jenkins. Evan has challenged himself by taking advantage of the academic offerings and by graduation will have completed 10 AP classes. He is currently enrolled in AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 2, AP Psychology, and AP English Literature and Composition. Despite a tough schedule, Evan has managed to maintain high honors throughout his high school career. Evan is

a member of the National Honor Society and is currently ranked in the top 5% of his senior class. Evan has attended two Congress of Future Medical Leaders’ conferences and earned an Award of Excellence at each. During the summer of 2022, Evan traveled to Hue, Vietnam to participate in the Future Docs Abroad program, the summer honors program for high school and undergraduate students who aspire to a career in the medical field. Evan is a member of the Science Olympiad team and has earned two

first place finishes in his events this year. He recently received College Board’s National Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award for his continued academic excellence and outstanding standardized test scores. Evan was a member of the North Pocono Football team for all 4 years of high school. Outside of school, Evan volunteers his time at Lackawanna County Challenger sporting events assisting kids and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities. After graduation, Evan plans on attending a 4-year university to major in either Pre-Med or Neuroscience in preparation to attend Medical School.

Lauren Posluszny is the daughter of Dave and Maureen Posluszny. Lauren is taking challenging, yet beneficial classes her senior year such as Intro to Law, Forensics, and Protective Services to prepare her for college as well as her law enforcement career path. Lauren has attained honor roll both first and second quarter. She has maintained an active role in the National Honor Society her senior year. Lauren is a member of the track and field team as well as the marching band units. She served as treasurer of the marching band units and as captain of the cross country team and varsity basketball cheer team. She is a representative of the senior class in the student council at North Pocono and serves as a Student Ambassador at the Career Technology Center (CTC). She is currently employed at Alpacas of Windy Haven farms in Covington Twp. Lauren has also served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard since December in 2022. Following high school, Lauren will be shipped to basic training for the summer, specializing in the job of Military Police. After graduation from basic and job school, she will attend the University of Scranton, majoring in Criminal Justice. She will also participate in the ROTC program, furthering her growth in the military.
