North Pocono Middle School issued the following announcement on Aug. 25.
Dear Parents and Guardians:
On behalf of myself and the North Pocono Middle School faculty and staff, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all students back to school. We are very eager to have most of our students return to in person instruction. Even though we have not escaped the pandemic, this year will resemble many of the practices we are accustomed to, and we hope to grow stronger by having more consistency. The following will provide information in one concise location rather than several website and social media postings.
Each morning, we ask that you conduct a symptom screening check-list, located on the NPSD Website before sending your child to school. In order to protect all students, faculty and staff, it is important to keep your child home if they are unwell. If your child or someone in your home has been diagnosed with COVID-19, please notify Mrs. Sheerer, our school nurse. We will also be following the NP Board of Education’s guidelines pertaining to face coverings.
Families opting to transport their child(ren) to school each morning will enter through the entrance closest to NPI. Both cars and buses will enter through this entrance, but parents will be directed by the school resource officers to travel adjacent to the basketball “nets” and proceed in front of the middle school. Additional staff will assist in allowing students out of the car. Students will enter through the gym entrance. Students who ride the bus will exit on the side of the middle school, walk on the front sidewalk and enter through the main entrance. Students should not be dropped off prior to 7:15. Parking Lot Map
Each student will have a Chromebook assigned to them. Students should be sure that they bring their assigned Chromebook daily and that it is fully charged. We strongly encourage families to enroll in the insurance for Chromebooks as each student will have the Chromebook until graduation. We understand accidents happen, and insurance will prevent costly repairs or replacement. The deadline to enroll is September 6, 2021. Chromebook Insurance. In event the school must close due to inclement weather or COVID-19, all students must abide by the NPSD Virtual Code of Conduct. Students that are virtual can retrieve their schedule, books and materials on Friday, August 27th during the hours of 1 pm through 3 pm at the middle school main entrance.
All students will be provided with a schedule the first day of school. Homeroom lists will be posted on the main entrance and gym entrance doors on Friday, August 27th. In addition, students will be able to view their schedule prior to the start of school via the portal. Bell Schedule
I hope that you can consider joining the NPMS PTA. The PTA supports many initiatives such as team t-shirts, field trips, 8th Grade Field Day, student assemblies and many other activities throughout the school year. Your support can assist in sustaining these programs. PTA Membership
Finally, this school year will continue to include many challenges and unknowns. The pandemic has forced us all to understand many things are out of our control and that we must learn to be adaptable. I hope that through our partnership with our North Pocono families, we will rise above the uncertainty and challenges and become even more united. On behalf of myself and Mrs. Dennebaum, we hope you and your family stay safe, healthy and have a successful school year.
Sincerely,
Matthew Montoro
