Blue Mountain High School issued the following announcement on Dec. 1.
As you know, we have experienced a significant number of positive COVID-19 cases at our high school. As a result, we have had to move to an all online instructional format. Thus, we are taking mitigation efforts to avoid the spread of the virus. This has resulted in the district not providing transportation to our STC students. Buses are a place where physical distancing is impossible.
This issue has resulted in our decision not to provide transportation for students to the STC. In addition, it is our recommendation that students attend classes at the STC virtually. This issue has been discussed with the leadership of the STC and they are in support of this decision.
While they will not turn away students that are able to provide their own transportation, it is recommended that students should attend classes virtually this week. The STC is currently operating on a hybrid schedule presently.
The district understands that lab based programs offered are best delivered in-person. Unfortunately, due to the increase in positive cases, it is the district’s recommendation to attend classes at the STC virtually this week for safety concerns.
