Rep. Joanne Stehr announced on April 9 that she will host an informational open house for constituents about the PPL Sunbury-Frackville 230 kV Power Line Project. The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mahantongo Fire Company.

The purpose of the open house is to give residents of the 107th District a chance to learn more about the power line project and engage directly with representatives from PPL Electric Utilities. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions regarding plans to rebuild approximately 37 miles of existing transmission line, construct a new switchyard in Butler Township, and other proposed changes affecting the region’s electric grid.

According to Stehr’s office, the rebuilt transmission line will run from the Sunbury 500/230 kV Substation in Shamokin Dam to the Frackville 230/69 kV Substation near Frackville. Representatives from PPL are expected to be available during the event to discuss construction plans, right-of-way issues, and answer any other concerns raised by community members.

The event is free and open for all constituents within Stehr’s district. Residents are encouraged to attend at any time during its two-hour duration.
