The June edition of a local television program, hosted by Senator Dave Argall, explores strategies to address blighted buildings across Pennsylvania. In the program, Argall shares insights from his recent town hall meetings in various communities where residents expressed concerns about decaying structures.

“In several of my recent town hall meetings in Sheppton, Lansford, and Frackville, local people have often commented that blighted, decaying, rat-infested buildings can spread through a community like the plague, but community revitalization efforts are also contagious,” said Argall. “I’ve seen it in Jim Thorpe, Tamaqua, Shenandoah, Orwigsburg, Hazleton, Pottsville and beyond. The repair or demolition of vacant eyesores provides much-needed new housing and encourages new and existing employers to expand in surrounding buildings.”

The episode features a public hearing held by the Senate Majority Policy Committee at the request of Senator Lynda Culver and chaired by Argall in Sunbury. Participants included local officials, business leaders, housing authorities and advocates who discussed successful property restoration efforts and challenges such as code enforcement laws and funding for demolitions.

This edition of the Argall Report will be broadcast on various platforms and is also accessible online at https://www.senatorargall.com/argallreport/.
