Senator Dave Argall, along with Representatives Tim Twardzik and JoAnne Stehr, announced the allocation of $2.3 million in grants to schools in Schuylkill County. The funding comes from the Solar for Schools program and is intended to support the installation of solar arrays on school roofs or grounds, which will help reduce energy expenses.
Rep. Twardzik expressed his satisfaction with the grants awarded to Minersville Area and North Schuylkill school districts. He stated, “Investing in solar energy with the assistance of these grants helps reduce electric costs for these schools. This program, along with continuing investment in legacy energy, will help ensure Pennsylvania has the energy needed for our growing economy.”
Rep. Stehr highlighted the benefits for Tri-Valley and Williams Valley school districts, noting that “lowering energy costs and encouraging sustainability are important goals that will benefit both our district and the Commonwealth.”
Senator Argall emphasized the financial advantages of this initiative: “This bipartisan program will save taxpayers millions in the coming years,” he said.
The Solar for Schools initiative aims to decrease schools’ energy costs by facilitating solar array installations. The Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency established by the General Assembly, administers this funding as part of its role in promoting economic growth within Pennsylvania.
