Rep. Jamie Barton, who represents parts of Berks and Schuylkill counties in the 124th Legislative District, has been appointed vice chair of the House Appropriations Committee. Barton said, “I’m honored to have been chosen for such an important role. I do my best to represent Berks and Schuylkill counties through the lens of fiscal responsibility, and I will continue to do so in the budget process, knowing it impacts each and every taxpayer in Pennsylvania.”
As vice chair, Barton will assist Republican Chair Jim Struzzi with committee responsibilities. The committee is set to begin three weeks of budget hearings starting Monday, Feb. 23.
Barton is involved in community service as a lay pastor and Sunday school teacher at St. Johns UCC in Orwigsburg and volunteers with organizations such as the Orwigsburg Lions Club, Big Impact Group of Schuylkill County, and Young Entrepreneur Academy according to his official website. He also prioritizes economic growth, support for small businesses, reducing energy costs, investing in education, improving infrastructure, and enhancing community safety initiatives (official website).
