Over $730,000 has been allocated to community development projects in Carbon County through the Monroe County Contiguous Local Share Account. This announcement was made by Representative Doyle Heffley and Senator Dave Argall.

Rep. Heffley expressed his satisfaction with the funding, stating, “I’m always happy to help secure these funds for worthy projects in our community.” He highlighted that the funding will enhance public safety, promote tourism, provide recreational opportunities, and drive economic growth in Carbon County.

Senator Argall emphasized the competitive nature of the funding and its importance for local first responders, historical preservation, and recreational improvements. “I’m grateful to have excellent partners in Rep. Heffley, Carbon County’s Commissioners, and all the municipal leaders and community volunteers who worked with us to secure these dollars,” he said.

Mike Sofranko, Chairman of the Carbon County Board of Commissioners, expressed gratitude for the funding which will aid public safety enhancements throughout the county. “We want to thank Sen. Argall and Rep. Heffley for helping the county to acquire this funding,” Sofranko stated.

The Local Share Account funding is sourced from casino gaming revenues and is redistributed to benefit surrounding communities. The Commonwealth Financing Authority administers these funds as part of Pennsylvania’s economic growth initiatives.
