State grants totaling $385,000 have been awarded to several communities in Luzerne County for infrastructure and recreation projects. Senator Dave Argall (R-29) and Representative Jamie Walsh (R-117) collaborated with local leaders to secure this funding.
“Towns and neighborhoods in all corners of Luzerne County will benefit from this funding,” said Argall. “I am pleased that these major infrastructure and recreation projects will receive this critical funding.”
“This funding is vital to help maintain safe and secure infrastructure in our communities,” Walsh stated. “I look forward to seeing the finished projects and applaud the good work of our local governments to address these needed improvements.”
Penn Lake Park Borough received $250,000 for rehabilitation of the Penn Lake Dam and spillway. White Haven Borough was granted $135,000 for streetscape improvements and upgrades to the Delaware and Lehigh Trail.
The grants were distributed through the Statewide Local Share Account program, which allocates gaming revenue for economic development initiatives. The Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency within the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, approved the funding. This authority manages various programs focused on economic development and community improvement across Pennsylvania.
