Senator Dave Argall (R-29) responded to Governor Josh Shapiro’s proposed $53.3 billion state budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year by calling for more fiscal restraint and cost controls in state spending.
“Pennsylvania families are still grappling with everyday costs,” Argall said. “Now is not the time to drain our emergency reserves or expand government spending to unsustainable levels.”
Argall highlighted recent efforts to limit spending, stating, “We’ve successfully fought to eliminate harmful taxes like the $1.5 billion RGGI electricity tax. These victories help protect working families across Pennsylvania.”
He also found agreement with the governor on housing policy: “I am committed to expanding public-private partnerships to deliver more housing in our region, and we need policies that promote homeownership and remove unnecessary regulatory barriers.”
“As a member of our state Senate’s majority leadership team, I will continue to advocate for honest budgeting, restrained spending and policies that help more Pennsylvanians achieve the American Dream throughout this large district in Carbon, Luzerne and Schuylkill counties,” Argall said.
Argall serves as a senator representing Pennsylvania’s 29th District and has chaired the Senate Majority Policy Committee, where he oversaw legislative hearings on issues such as education funding. He has worked on legislation supporting working-class communities by focusing on revitalizing older industrial neighborhoods. Through his offices in various locations across Pennsylvania, he provides constituent services related to state-agency matters and community initiatives.
